Elly Dallas is an artist, printcess, zinester, and art educator. She received her BFA in printmaking from Kent State University in 2013, and is currently student teaching to receive her MS degree in Curriculum and Instruction of Visual Arts for grades Pre K-12. After a year nannying in 2015, she realized her experiences working with children had been the most eye opening of all in terms of self love and making social change. Through her work she explores the idea that the personal is political, and change can be made by sharing even the smallest of stories. Her current art practice consists mostly of working small in the form of diary comics, zines, relief cuts, and embroidery. Through diary comics she documents her experiences as a young woman with the intention of encouraging others to do the same. Through sharing of artwork, work as an art educator and child care provider, and by hosting free workshops - there is a goal to share beliefs and values that might otherwise go unexpressed. These beliefs and values center around making and sharing time with others, and creating and documenting
positive experiences with fellow community members. Elly has tabled at several zine events, hosted readings in Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix and LA during a cross country zine tour, and had her zine ‘Nannyville’ purchased for the UCLA zine library collection. After graduating this coming May, Elly will be moving to Los Angeles where she will begin her search for a teaching job, continue hosting free workshops with the intention of promoting a community centered
around sharing and friendship, and begin working on a larger comic project.
